This research examines the existing intersection between search engine optimization (SEO), artificial intelligence (AI), and news monitoring in digital journalism. To do so, a comparative analysis is conducted between Brazilian and Spanish media outlets, specifically Folha de São Paulo, Estadão, El Mundo, and El País. Semi-structured interviews are carried out and qualitatively analyzed using the ATLAS.ti program. This work reveals, among other things, that the three tools coexist in newsrooms but still lack integrated coordination that impacts media agendas and news production and distribution. The results suggest a continuous influence of SEO, AI, and news monitoring on journalistic routines but are limited by the lack of a unified framework. It also highlights the need to balance web visibility with journalistic integrity and provides a novel perspective on the use of these three elements in digital journalism.
