Towards a definition of obituary in Spanish press. Case study of ‘El País’

This article intends to describe, throughout El País newspaper, the characteristics of the obituaries genre which is one of the least studied and is scarcely present in style guides or journalism handbooks. For that reason, we will develop a quantitative content analysis of the 2015 obituaries. At the same time, we pretend to analyze the agenda and framing put on in the choosing, hierarchical structuring and interpretation processes done by El País.
